Guide Review – Weber Spirit E-310 Black
In the early days (the 1980’s) of the Weber outdoor bbq grill the spirit line was their smallest and least expensive grill. With the 2007 model year, Weber as restored this line and now redesigned for 2009. The new spirit is made in China so that Weber could control the price though this grill lists for around $600USD (you can find it for as little as $475USD). You will be able to find this grill virtually everywhere.
The Weber Spirit E-310 has three 12,000 BTU stainless steel burners under two porcelain coated steel cooking grates. The grease management system of this grill reduces flare-ups and the firebox design gives you a very even heat (though it tends to be a little hotter on the left side). Ignition is from a push button, piezo electric igniter which shouldn’t clog anytime soon.
This is a great, no frills grill. If you are serious about grilling food and don’t need a lot of extras this is the outdoor bbq grill you should buy. The one draw back I have with this grill is the limited work space. With the control valves on the right side table you don’t have a lot of space to put down a plate, let alone prepare a meal.
Largely constructed from porcelain coated steel this grill does have stainless steel side tables, though not made of the best quality stainless. The internal components are all of the best quality and built to last.
Weber ranks amongst the best grills on the market and you pay for that quality and the 24/7 support. This is a basic grill that won’t give you a lot of versatility but it will give you dependable performance for many years to come and with a good warranty you’ll be able to keep it fixed up and working like new long than most grill last.
Brinkmann 4-Burner Outdoor BBQ Grill
This basic unit offers you a full feature outdoor bbq grill at a discount price (around $200USD). The four burner design gives you lots of versatility in your cooking. With the addition of a side burner you can do virtually anything but rotisserie. This grill is, however, limited in durability thanks to is reliance on low quality materials and lightweight construction. All stainless steel parts, including the tubular burners at 400 series stainless. The knobs and handles are plastic. The “features”, like the bottle opener and flip up front panel are more gimmick than gadget. There are certainly better grills out there.
Pros
Good heat output for the size
Full function gas grill for a low price (around $200USD)
Cons
Low quality materials, including burners
Lightweight construction
Limited support from the manufacturer

Porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates

Manufactured by The Brinkmann Corporation and sold exclusively through Home Depot Stores
Guide Review – Brinkmann 4-Burner BBQ Grill
This is a simple and basic outdoor gas grill for a good price. At around $200USD this Home Depot exclusive Brinkmann gas grill is sure to be popular amongst those who don’t do their research. The 4 stainless steel (400 series stainless) burners give you a lot of versatility in grilling both direct and indirect. The 486 square inches of primary grilling space provide ample cooking space and the 48,000 BTU output will give you plenty of heat. With the 12,000 BTU brass cap side burner you get the ability to do virtual any cooking task. This unit only lacks a full rotisserie system (though can get a spit and fork rotisserie rod for it).
Listed among the “features” of this grill are a side table mounted bottle opener and a flip up front panel that can be used as a condiment table should you need it. This just tends to make this gas grill more gimmick than practical grill.
Unfortunately this grill is built with low quality materials like the 430 stainless steel tubular burners and the plastic knobs and handles. The lightweight construction doesn’t improved the quality either. There are many more better quality outdoor bbq grill near this price range that you should look into before this grill.
Grill Master 4-Burner Outdoor BBQ Gas Grill
For around $200USD you get a large, 4-burner gas outdoor bbq grill with porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates and a 12,000 BTU side burner. Constructed of a mixture of stainless steel and black powder coated steel this is a pretty impressive grill for the price. Unfortunately this is also another of the “you get what you pay for” outdoor bbq grill. Thin metals, lightweight materials, plastic parts, and poor construction limit the life expectancy of this grill greatly. My recommendation is to look for something smaller and will less features at this price point.
Pros
Good heat output for the size
Large size and well featured for the price
Cons
Not very sturdy construction
Low quality stainless steel parts
Thin, lightweight materials
Description
Four 12,000 BTU stainless steel tubular burners
487 square inches of primary cooking space for a total grilling area of 667 square inches
48,000 BTU output from the main burners
12,000 BTU side burner under a flush mounted lid
Electric (AA battery) push button ignition
400 series stainless steel and powder coated steel construction
Porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates
Plastic control knobs, hand connectors and door knobs
Propane tank and cover sold separately
Imported from China by Nexgrill exclusively for Lowes’ Grill Master Brand
Guide Review – Grill Master 4-Burner Gas Outdoor BBQ Grill
Grill Master is another Lowes’ store brand gas outdoor bbq grill grill imported from China. This line has only recently been introduced an this is its first grill. Imported by Nexgrill, this is a basic 4-burner gas grill with side burner. It is constructed of low grade stainless steel, but most of the body is black powder coated steel. For the price, around $200USD it is a large grill and well featured. The 12,000 BTU side burner is a nice addition and the porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates would help give you a good sear if they had and mass to retain heat. In this price range you can not expect a lot of performance or durability and this is one grill that will live up to that expectation.
When it comes to gas grills Lowes and Nexgrill do not have the best reputations. Lowes’ brand grills have seen more recalls in recent years than any other store and Nexgrill is known for limited customer service. This is one of those outdoor bbq grills with no one to really stand behind it or really care how well it performs or lasts. Does that really sound like the kind of gas outdoor bbq grill you want to buy?
